A driven pile is a relatively long, slender column, installed to offer support or to resist forces. They are fabricated according to a unique set of structural specifications and shape and size requirements. This flexibility translates into lower material costs and eliminates site clean-up expenses. The piles can be physically inspected prior to and during installation. Their high structural strength allows them to be driven by modern hammers (impact hammering, vibrating or pushing into the earth) to increased working loads, thus leading to fewer piles required per project.
